EARLIER this month Elizabeth Wilson defeated a fellow England Girls’ Squad member in a play off to lift the Girls’ Fair haven Trophy.

The duo, who were the only players under par (-2) across the four rounds, couldn’t be separated throughout the contest, with just one shot difference after each day’s play.

In the battle of the England Girls Squad, Lizzie, reigned supreme to take the title, following a four hole play-off after both players finished on -2.

Lizzie is 17 years old and a member of Norwood Park Golf Club, County & England Golf Squad Member, Junior Past Captain at both Club and County level. She attends the Minister School and is set to take up a Golf Scholarship in the USA in September 2026.

Lizzie said: “It feels great to have won such a prestigious event and I’m happy I was able to get over the line in the play-off.

“Each round was tough but I thought I played solid and focused on one shot and hole at a time.

“Winning in a play off was exciting, there were a lot of emotions. I tried to have confidence in my game and to trust the strategy I made as it was stroke play not match play. It means a lot especially to win in a play-off as I’ve never experienced it before.”

This is one of many achievements for Lizzie this season. At the Scottish Girls U18 Championships, Lizzie finished in a tied 6th place, finishing level par through three rounds. Lizzie also played in the ‘Helen Holm’ Scottish Women’s Open Championship. There were 120 players over two rounds, with the top 60 making the cut to play the Royal Troon Old Course. Lizzie was level par after the first two rounds and finished three over on the final day which resulted in her coming 5th. Here, Lizzie was representing England in the Nations Cup, alongside Ellie Monk, and their combined score through the three rounds gave England the win!

Finally, Lizzie also won the Notts Schools Golf Championship, where she represented The Minster School and as we went to press was also crowned NCLGA County Champion at Worksop!
