VE Day Celebrations

It’s disappointing that the original plans to celebrate VE Day on Friday 8th May have had to be cancelled. However, there is still a lot we can do to commemorate the date and create a great community spirit – while keeping our distance!

Why not decorate your home with homemade bunting and flags. You can also enjoy a picnic in your home or garden and play 1930’s music!

Take a look at the Southwell Town Council’s website here, for some links to VE Day activities and a party pack that you can take part in at home.

The Royal British Legion has been liaising with government to think of alternative ways to commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE Day in light of the Coronavirus lockdown. They have announced a national sing-a-long of ‘We’ll meet again’ at 9.00 pm on Friday 8 May. So lets get out the red, white and blue and join in the sing-a-long too! More details here.

For details of what various villages have organised take a look at our What’s On pages here.
