Thurgarton’s Big Draw will take place in the historic church of St Peter in Thurgarton on Sunday 12th October from 2 to 4.30pm.
There are many things to draw in and outside this lovely church and the neighbouring allotment will also be open and provide additional possibilities for drawing. Expert help will be at hand.
Children will be able to make posters (Your Country Needs You!), draw the insignia of the regiments that local people were in, and add to a procession in the church of people in the sort of jobs that Thurgartonians might have had during the war (soldier, sailor, land girl etc). If you bring your teddy bear he/she might be able to parachute from the church tower. We also plan to make a long banner as usual to hang from the tower with everyone painting something on it.
The best scarecrow from the scarecrow competition will be on view at the allotment and the silver cup will be awarded to the winner at 4pm.
The Big Draw is for everyone who is willing to have a go, regardless of ability. Pens, paper and other materials for drawing will be provided, and refreshments will be available thanks to the WI. Everyone is welcome.
