Thank you Mrs Plummer

Thank you Mrs Plummer

Extracts from The Bramley 30 Years Ago February 19, 2013

Children at Lowe’s Wong Infant School and mothers met for a short thank you ceremony in January.

Their thanks were for Mrs Dulcie Plummer who had been the children’s Lollipop Lady for the past 14 years. As a school crossing patrol warden Mrs Plummer had been shepherding children across two busy roads three times a day until recent cutbacks reduced her duties to twice a day.

In a short speech Headmistress Miss Ortlieb praised Mrs Plummer’s conscientiousness and friendliness and said they would all miss her familiar presence outside the school. Mrs Plummer had watched the children she had first escorted across the roads 14 years ago grow up and have children of their own who, in their turn, were helped across the roads safely.

Mrs Plummer was given a bouquet of flowers and a cheque with agiant card signed by all the children at the Infant school.

The children of the Junior school also held a thank you ceremony for Mrs Plummer the following week and Mr Bowler, Headmaster, thanked her on behalf of his pupils for her splendid work over the years.

Mr Whelan and Mrs McLeish from the Newark Road Safety Office were also present at the first ceremony and presented Mrs Plummer with a gift from their department.
