Southwell’s big spring clean

A big thank you to all who participated in Green Southwell’s Great British Spring Clean. The 23 volunteers showed tremendous effort and managed to collect a startling 30 bags of waste.

Ensuring our area is clear from litter is vital to protecting nature and to reducing injury to animals caused by our rubbish. The efforts of the volunteers will mean that: cigarette ends and plastic will not get washed into local rivers, fly tips and sharps (syringes) will be removed and litter free areas will encourage others to take their rubbish with them.

The team found that the main problem areas are in car parks, around the Minster and Lowe’s Wong schools, along the Ropewalk and Co-op, One-Stop and the Library Car Park area.

Green Southwell would like to thank both Southwell Lions and the Methodist Church, who always help with this annual event.
