Southwell Traders Christmas Gift Guide

Enjoy all your Christmas shopping in the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of Southwell. Browse and select from the wonderful choices offered by the town’s independent retailers. Make a day of it and enjoy food and drink at the local restaurants and pubs or come along to the Christmas Late Night Shopping evening on Thursday 30th November, 5-8pm.

For the first time this year King Street will be closed to ensure everyone can move around safely and enjoy all that will be taking place. Browse at leisure around the fantastic offers from the tempting array of Southwell’s unique and independent shops, many of which will be providing their own Christmas treats. Seasonal food and drink will be available at the tea shops, restaurants and pubs to add to the Christmas atmosphere throughout the evening.

Festivities will start at 5pm with children from Lowe’s Wong and Holy Trinity Schools singing their own special selection of carols and Christmas songs in the courtyard of the Admiral Rodney pub. Santa and his helpers will be on hand too, organised by Southwell and District Lions Club.

Our vibrant Christmas Market on the Market Square will be featuring a wide range of seasonal gift ideas including; handcrafted festive decorations, homes wares, jewellery, woollens, and speciality foods and drinks. Newark Town Band will be playing on King Street and the Lace City Chorus will be singing near the Old Theatre Deli. The Castle House Singers and buskers from the Minster School will also be performing at locations around the town. Local charity Reach will be opening in Prebend Passage to take orders for their handmade wreaths, all made from flowers and foliage grown at their Flowerpod site.

In Bull Yard join in the fun with Candy Cane the Elf who will be stilt walking, balloon modelling, unicycling and performing juggling tricks with glow in the dark LED technology! Take your own festive selfie at The Selfie Station – choose to be one of Santa’s helpers, angels and fairies, or Robin Hood and Maid Marion! Enjoy hot dogs, mulled wine and prosecco by Alfresco Caffe, face painting and children’s crafts by Southwell Methodist Church. Plus DJ Andy Sumner will be playing Christmas music and requests!

Southwell Library will be open from 5pm – 7pm with children’s crafts, unusual gifts and local publications on sale plus mulled wine and mince pies.
