Southwell Squash Club

Southwell Squash Club is based at Southwell leisure centre and enjoys the use of 3, state of the art, glass backed courts. which can now be booked on-line as well as by phone.

Every Tuesday from 6.20pm – 9.00pm is club night, which is open to all club members and mixes the more leisurely social players, new starters and one or two team players.  No matter the standard, everyone will get a good game.

The club has been going for almost 40 years and now boasts a membership of over a 100 which comprise of seniors, juniors and social. This year we have seen our senior membership grow by more than 20%.

We are always looking for new members and very much welcome interest from ladies. We have a very active junior section and currently have a membership of about 30.  Coaching sessions are provided every monday evening by the clubs resident coach at the SLC.

The club now has six mens teams in the Nottinghamshire league and over all we are doing very well. We were in a good position at the end of the first half of the season and over all we have managed to consolidate our positions as we play our final matches of the season. The following are the current results:

Div 2    Southwell 1    Top (All matches played)
Div 3    Southwell 2    4th (One match to play)
Div 5    Southwell 3    Top (One match to play)
Southwell 4    4th (Two matches to play)
Div 6A  Southwell 5    2nd (One match to play)
Div 6B  Southwell 6    3rd (One match to play)

Unfortunately we do not have a ladies team entered in the league, we hope, in the not to distant future this will be remedied.

Our first team has made it to the final of the Mens B Nottinghamshire County Cup. The final to be played on the 11th May. Our Second and fifth team made through to the quarter finals, sadly they were knocked out.

Other news: Adam McQuilkin and Ben Ian from the 2nd team were winners of this years Nottinghamshire Open Doubles Tournament held at The Park Squash Club in February.
