Southwell Scout Group

Unfortunately our winter activity weekend in the Peak District had to be cancelled at the last minute due to bad weather. Five Venture Scouts did, however, brave the snow and frost to complete a 30 mile hike spending two nights uner canvas as part of their training for Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

The Peak District trip will now take place in March with further camping expeditions to Oxton, Walesby and the Lake District planned for the summer months.

This year’s AGM will be held on 27th April when anyone interested is invited to attend. Should you be willing to serve on the Executive Committee, please contact the group leader Mr Brian Dewing or chairman Mr Andrew Bee as soon as possible. New faces and ideas are always welcome.

High on our agenda is the need for larger more permanent premises as numbers continue to increase, with seven Cubs in February alone moving up and being invested Scouts.

On Saturday 5th March the Scouts took part in the district 5-a-side football competition and were placed third in their group.
