Hats off to Paul Butcher who represented Britain wearing red and white in the British and Irish Masters. This was a cross country run in Wollaton Park. Paul did his country proud and claimed a bronze for his individual performance and gold for the team performance. Will Lowdham get another gold post box?
Penny Durance and Julie Stafford were both celebrating significant birthdays. They could have decided to hold a party or go on a special holiday, as most of the population would. They chose to run a marathon every month for 2014. By the time you read this they will have run their 12 marathons. Julie went as far away as Greece and ran one in her home country, Scotland. The rest were all over the country.
The cross country season is with us again, picture mud sweat and tears and you have it. Luke Marshall is running very well. Welcome back to Francis McKinnon who is also in fine form.
20 runners took part in the annual 10 mile race at Norwell. Katy Simpson and Penny Durance lead the ladies in. Jim Semmelroth and Mark Edmonson- Jones were the first men back, both achieving PB’s. Steve Hargrave and Steve Rice also ran PB’s.
If you would you like to run with a similar ability group at an agreed pace instead of running on the dark winter roads on your own. Come and join the rejuvenated Thursday sessions, we meet at the Leisure Centre at 6.45 pm www.southwellrunningclub.org
