Southwell Minster Choir recruiting Now

To follow-up our popular Minster Choir Open Day last November we will be auditioning boys on Wednesday 4th March for vacant places in the Cathedral Choir of Southwell Minster; applications are welcome as soon as possible.

We have room for a group of boys aged 7-8 from September 2015 and would be pleased to listen to anyone with the beginnings of a voice. Musical genius is not necessary!

If accepted for the Minster Choir a place is guaranteed in the Junior Department of the Minster School and then in the main school itself, whether or not the family lives in the School’s catchment area.

In addition to the unique training, discipline and artistic education of a Cathedral Chorister, we give a free tea, free lessons on a musical instrument, supervised homework / practice time before Evensong – and we pay the Choristers too!

The life of a Cathedral Chorister is a full one, the daily services being at its heart. The choir can often be heard on the radio or seen on television, records CDs which have been warmly praised in the national press, enjoys regular overseas tours and has sung with major orchestras and also for Her Majesty the Queen. We even have our own football team which plays other cathedrals in an annual competition.

Ex-Choristers go on to be real achievers – you find them in all walks of life, from politicians to pop-stars, teachers to trumpeters, soldiers to surgeons.

Any boy who will be in Years 4, 5 or 6 from next September stands the chance of winning this opportunity for enriching his life & education.

Please ring 01636 817360 – anytime – to ask for application details.
