Southwell Library closed for Modernisation Programme

As you may have noticed Southwell Library has temporarily closed as part of a modernisation programme. It will reopen on Saturday 14th March.

Library users will benefit from enhanced facilities which will see a £70,000 investment by the library service in remodelling the existing building to create an enhanced library, gallery and cafe area which will improve the community’s overall access and experience of the facilities. There will also be an increased open communal area space which groups can hire as well as other meeting rooms in the building.

During the closure, to provide temporary access to books and reading, hours will be extended at nearby Farnsfield Library and there will be Saturday access to the mobile library parked at the rear of Southwell Library.

Before and during the works, Southwell Library users can stock up on extra books with extended loan dates, use their membership card at any county library and renew items online at www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/nelib or by calling the Customer Services number 0300 500 80 80.

Bramley copies: During the closure extra copies of The Bramley newspaper will be available at Southwell Tourist information Centre, Church Street, the Post Office and also in the mobile library on Saturdays.

Unfortunately due to the building works, the Southwell Youth Club will also be closed. The club aims to be back open as soon as possible. Look out for updates on social media and in the Bramley. Chairman Peter Herniman said: “May I take the chance to thank all our members and all who have supported the club over the last few months. Over 18 and want to make real difference to the young people of Southwell? We are still seeking volunteers to make this club even bigger and better. Please email me at pete.thecore@outlook.com for more information.”
