Southwell Cricket Club passed ECB health check

Last year Southwell Cricket Club successfully renewed its ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) Clubmark accreditation status which included ECB approval to implement a new five-year development plan. The Club has now gone on to pass the ECB annual health check by demonstrating that significant progress has been made in implementing the plan.

The ECB Clubmark shows that a cricket club is sustainable, well run and provides the right environment for its members. Clubmark accreditation also means a club is recognised as a safe, rewarding and fulfilling place for participants of all ages, as well as assuring parents and carers that they are choosing the right option for their young people. To obtain accreditation, clubs are asked to provide evidence that they meet a series of criteria.
Richard Maloney, Club Secretary, is enthusiastic about the future and points out: “Having a new five-year plan has really helped the committee focus on the key issues required to develop our cricketing facilities to meet the needs of our local community. Massive improvements have been seen at the ground during the last year, especially where NTU have provided support to introduce new nets, extend the lease agreement and improve drainage of the ground.”

The new plan also helped rejuvenate the youth section with up to 90 youngsters now participating on a Friday night. Investment for 2019 will focus on further development of training facilities, maintaining the ground, improving the pavilion and hopefully installing an electronic scoreboard.
