Staff and residents took part in a sponsored pyjama day at the Southwell Court Care Home in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and raised £250.
Wendy Oldfield, activity co-ordinator at Southwell Court organised a sponsored pyjama day for the staff and also held a cake sale for residents and visitors to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Staff chose to wear their pyjamas for 3 days, travelling to and from work in their nightwear, including a wonderful ‘Dalmation’ onesie.
Stacey Smalley, Macmillan Fundraising Manager said: “I had never heard of a sponsored pyjama day in a care home and thought it was a fantastic way to get everyone involved and have a great day. Wendy has worked really hard to make sure this event was successful and that everyone enjoyed taking part. All the staff took part and made it a great success. The money raised will help so many people living with cancer – they are all a true inspiration to us all.”
Every day 17 people in the county hear the devastating news they have cancer, and eight people die from the illness. This will see Nottinghamshire’s population of people living with cancer nearly double between 2010 and 2030. Macmillan is here to support ANYONE affected by cancer, not only supporting people diagnosed with it but family, friends, colleagues – ANYONE who is worried about or has been affected by cancer.
