Southwell City Romans crowned Champions

Southwell City Romans U10 football team finished their season in style when they were crowned Sunday Division C champions after an impressive unbeaten campaign.

The boys dominated their Spring 2015 competition, only dropping points in two matches. Going in to their final two games knowing that only wins would do to secure the championship, they produced two stunning performances to clinch the title, with superb goals from Matthew Cunningham (pictured left) and Sam Kumar (pictured right) being highlights of the final day.

Just a couple of weeks earlier, the team made another appearance at the City Ground for the annual Forest Festival. After playing teams from Clifton and Wollaton, the boys picked up medals from former England and Nottingham Forest legend, Des Walker.

For many of the players, this season was their first taste of regular team football. However the newer recruits have fitted into the squad quickly and are developing their skills with regular coaching. The whole team has a great team spirit and togetherness which has been a major factor in their success this year.

The boys are pictured at the tournament wearing their new away kit, which has been kindly sponsored by Southwell company, Zoom Health.
