This year Southwell Artists will be holding their sixth biennial Open Studios during August Bank Holiday weekend on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th August, 10am to 5pm.
We are delighted to be joining the Southwell Music Festival for the first of their annual events. The weekend promises to provide an exciting mix of diverse visual art and top quality classical music.
Artists’ work will be displayed in houses or studios along an ‘easy to follow’ trail through Southwell. People can enjoy an interesting ramble full of discoveries and contrasts.
Our aim is to make the visual arts more accessible to people of all ages, and to show a wide range of approaches and techniques including painting, photography and mixed media. You will be able to visit nine venues, see work and chat with fourteen artists who will also have work on sale.
Tea and homemade cakes will be available at both ends of the trail. Again, we are very grateful to Reach (formerly Southwell Care Project) for providing this service and adding the ‘icing on the cake’ for our event.
As in previous years, profits from our entrance fee (£4.00, under 15’s free) goes to a charity. This year we have chosen Reach Learning Disability. Since 1999 Reach has provided an invaluable service for adults with learning difficulties in Southwell. Demand for their services continues to grow and they now support centres in Mansfield and Newark.
You can download a printable leaflet from our website www.southwellartists.co.uk or pick up a leaflet from various venues in Southwell including the Tourist Office, the library, pubs and many public venues throughout the region.
