Southwell Artists Exhibition: Between the Lines

Southwell Artists are delighted to participate again in Southwell Music Festival in August 2015. This year two events will be held in Southwell Minster that specifically relate to the Festival and its music

Between the Lines
The Southwell Artists’ exhibition, running from Wednesday 26th August to 6th September will include work in a range of media, relating broadly to the theme of music. Subjects and techniques will range from figurative drawings and paintings made during previous musical events, to abstract and interpretative images, either inspired by a specific piece of music or a visual response to music in the wider sense. Works will be displayed on the walls around the Minster before, during and after the Festival.

Musical Draw
Taking place on Saturday 29th August, 10am to 1pm, visitors will have the opportunity to draw a group of musicians rehearsing over a three hour session. Novices, amateurs and professionals are all welcome. Children (over 10 years) should be accompanied by an adult. Materials (pencils chalks, boards, paper etc.) will be provided, but if possible people are encouraged to bring their own materials. If visitors are in agreement we hope to display the drawings on screens in the Chapter House for the public to view during the Festival

We hope that these events will form a visual counterpoint to the wonderful music that you will experience during the festival.
