Song for Southwell winner announced!

Tina Hall from Southwell Gallery is delighted to announce that the winner of their recent competition ‘A Song for Southwell’ is Martin Williams with his fantastic and uplifting song ‘A Beautiful Day’.

Organised in the lead up to Christmas, the idea was to encourage local musicians, both young and old to create a positive song to mark the end of a very difficult year for everyone.

“I want to say a big heartfelt thank you to everyone who entered – the songs were of a really high standard,” commented Tina “Congratulations to Martin for his wonderful song – we will be arranging his prize of a recording session in a professional studio as soon as it is safe to do so. Meanwhile every person who entered will receive a £20 gift voucher to spend at Southwell Gallery.”

“Since opening the Gallery I have been asking the people of Southwell and surrounding villages what they would like in the town, and I have now decided to expand the Gallery to include a good old fashioned record store!”

“There is something magical about playing vinyl records, the indulging ritual of lifting the needle and placing it on your favourite album creates a beautiful and uplifting ambience,” explained Tina “Whilst we are unable to see live music performances at the moment due to restrictions, this has been such an inspiring escapism for me listening to original recordings of some of my favourite bands – you can almost hear and see the energy of the artist through the vinyl recording!”

As a UK retailer for Music on Vinyl we now offer over 4,000 titles on vinyl, CD’s and Box Sets, available via mail order.
All enquiries, catalogue requests and orders can be taken by emailing Tina at: southwellgallery@gmail.com

Tina is also extending the offer of online ukulele or guitar lessons classes. “It doesn’t matter what level you are at, or if you have never played the guitar or ukelele before, come and have fun learning with me online!” To find out more email Tina at the address above.
