Soapology wins Award!

A Nottinghamshire Soap business has won an award for one of its natural Soap bars.  Soapology, owned by Emma Grosse and based in Farndon, Newark, makes Cold Process Natural Artisan Handcrafted Soap Bars. Soapology sells their sought after products online via its website www.soapology.co.uk and also attends some events locally over the festive period.

Soapology wholesale their soaps to retailers across the UK and have recently secured an order from Burleys Gift Shop in Southwell. Carolyn at Burleys has ordered the full range of soaps and they will be on sale from October.

One of Soapology’s creations, Cream Smoothie won an award in the Janey Loves Platinum Awards held in London. Cream Smoothie is a soap bar made with goats milk and oatmeal that soothes and comforts irritated skin and helps with eczema and psoriasis. Emma says “I was so excited to hear that Cream Smoothie had won in the Body Wash/Soap Bar category. It’s taken a lot of hard work and determination to get here so it’s wonderful to be acknowledged for a great product and receive recognition from industry experts.”  The judging panel included celebrities: Janey Lee Grace, Zoe Ball and Carrie Grant.

Cold Process Soap involves using natural ingredients like Sunflower Oil, Coconut Oil and Olive Oil and using an alkali to cause a chemical reaction called Saponification. This method of Soap-making is the only way to make true soap. Most soaps on the market are not actually soap at all, they are harsh detergents made with artificial foaming agents.

Soapology donates regularly to Nottinghamshire homelessness charity Framework. “We take basic hygiene for granted and for the users of Framework’s services its actually quite special to freshen up and feel clean again.”  Soapology donate one bar for every 10 bars sold and have plans to increase this in the future.

Emma has grown the business steadily over the last seven years, finally taking the plunge to leave her day job in 2015. “Since I focussed totally on Soapology, the business has grown tremendously – my only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner!”

Emma teaches Soap-making courses and workshops from Soapology Studio in Farndon. She runs group soap-making workshops monthly and 121 sessions on demand. Emma also teaches others how to set up natural skincare businesses and how to be successful. “There is a lot that goes into starting a soap or skincare business and it can be a total minefield of misinformation. I love guiding enthusiastic people through the journey of setting up their own soap or skincare business, I help with everything, legislation, EU regulations, labelling requirements and safety assessments amongst many other things.”

Emma will be exhibiting her products at the Handmade with Love Christmas Craft & Gift Market at Southwell Methodist Church on Saturday 3rd November 2018.
