Sixth Music Festival

Sixth Music Festival

Extracts from The Bramley 30 Years Ago April 3, 2012

The 6th Junior School Music Festival was held in Southwell on Saturday March 27th.

Children from ten schools in the area gathered at the Minster School to reverse together for the first time that afternoon and then give their performance to a packed audience in the evening.

The event was organised and conducted by Mr T Gill with help from Mr S Pulford (deputy head of Minster School), Mr Pallister, Mr Barnett, the music teachers in all schools participating and numerous parents.

The evening’s entertainment comprised massed choir singing, recorder pieces and a solo violin performance from Ruth Butler, a 14 year old pupil of the Cheetham School in manchester. Ruth, from Upton, first delighted an audience at the First Festival of Music half six years ago when she was just 8 years old.

Mr Gill is to be congratulated for his vision and courage in organising such an event, which brings together over 200 children for the first time on the day of the performance and achieves such an enjoyable concert and day of music for everyone involved.
