Summer is here, and with it comes outdoor shooting. There were several tournaments in May for our members to enter.
Shooting the Hereford Round at Wilford Bowmen’s ground, Susan Stankovic was 1st Lady Compound, and her granddaughter, Ashley Buckland, was 2nd. Later in the month, at Welbeck, the situation was reversed when Ashley came second, beating her grandmother into 3rd place – a victory she has been working towards! Also at Welbeck, Martyn Smith [recurve] had a good personal best shooting the York Round .
The first round of the Summer League Competition was held at Rolls Royce Bowmen of Sherwood’s ground at Hucknall., where nearly all of the County’s archery clubs were represented. Our teams are lying in good positions, ready for the next round, which will be held at our ground in June: the Junior recurve team is 2nd, the Junior compound team is 1st and the Senior compound team is 2nd.
New Club Records have been set in the past three months: ShortWarwick Round, Adam McLaughlin [Jnr Gent Compound], Ashley Buckland [Jnr Lady Compound], Charlotte Smith [Jnr Lady Recurve]. Short Junior Windsor Round, Joanne Bennett. American Round, Steve Gamble. Well done everyone!
