A Nottinghamshire-founded rum distillery is celebrating new success after its latest limited-edition release picked up a major industry award ahead of its public launch.

DropWorks Rum, based near Sherwood Forest, has unveiled Distiller’s Drop #002 – the second release in its collectible series. The new rum has already been awarded Gold at the Spirits Business Rum and Cachaça Masters 2026.

The distillery, which opened in 2023 and is known as Europe’s largest premium rum producer, saw its first limited release sell out within 48 hours. Just 900 bottles of the new edition will be available, making it another sought-after launch.

Distiller’s Drop #002 has been matured for 28 months in Bordeaux red wine casks at the Sherwood Forest site, creating a rich and distinctive flavour profile. Tasting notes include wild strawberries, black pepper and crème brûlée, with the rum bottled at 50.7% ABV.

Founder and Master Distiller Lewis Hayes said: “We’re excited to continue exploring the distinct flavours that different casks can impart on rum. The Bordeaux cask has created vibrant fruity and caramel notes that really showcase its potential.”

The new release will be unveiled at a London event on 17th March 2026, before going on general sale from 23rd March 2026, with early access offered to investors and subscribers.

With its roots firmly in Nottinghamshire, the distillery is helping to put the region on the map for innovative spirits production.
