Sebastian completes in Kent

The English Schools Athletics Association held their 2022 Cross Country Championship races in Kent in March with Year 9 Minster School student Sebastian Thornewill representing Nottinghamshire.

Sebastian was one of the eight runners representing the county, having first competed at district level and then in the County Championships to gain selection. He has been in training for several years for this and it is the first time he has gained county selection – a fantastic achievement. The 48 counties of England each send their best eight runners, making a field of over 380 runners in the race.

Sebastian competed in the U15 boys 4.5km cross country race and was placed 6th within the team of eight Nottinghamshire runners, with the full results yet to be published. He reports that he had a great experience down in Kent without Mum or Dad!

The 2022 track season is now Sebastian’s main focus, where he particularly excels at the 800m distance. Well done Sebastian!
