Hoveringham Primary school has been issued with a Section 12 Closure Notice which states that the County Council propose to close the school with effect from the 31st August 1983.

A petition against the closure was signed by 90% of the village and two successful funtions have been held to raise funds to fight the closure.

An Action Committee has been formed led by Mr Ken Clifford and Mrs Lynne Clarke and they propose to take the case to the Department of Education and Science in London.

Advice and help has been given by Cllr. Brendan Haigh, Mrs Valerie Gillespie, Community Council for the Preservation of Rural England and Andrew Geaorge, Rural officer for the Community Council for Nottinghamshire.
