Rugby Under 11’s Manchester Mission

Following generous sponsorship contributions and great fundraising efforts from the boys, Southwell Rugby Club’s Under 11’s recently embarked on their first ever tour to Manchester.

The touring side faced new challenges with matches against Sale RFC and Manchester RFC. As part of the weekend’s arrangements the boys experienced a professional coaching clinic with Sale Sharks RFC followed by a dream tunnel experience with the first team during a live televised match against Leicester Tigers. The team were treated post match by meeting a couple of their Leicester Tigers heroes.

The tour provided the opportunity for the boys to work as a team off the pitch to help raise money to pay for the tour coach to take them to Manchester. The quiz night and bag packing days saw their efforts rewarded and their hopes for their trip turned into reality. The boys represented the club with politeness and helpfulness during their bag packing and continued exemplary behaviour during the tour. The team were proud to be representing not only their club but Southwell as well.

The boys had a fantastic time and none of which would have been possible without the help of Scoozi Pizzeria, Southwell Hydroseeding, DG Joinery, Provision Recruitment, Sainsburys plc, Boots plc, Newark & Sherwood Council, Sportstar, RFU and all the parents and children of Southwell Rugby Club Under 11’s who donated their time, money and prizes.
