Five ex-rugby internationals from England and Scotland gathered at Southwell rugby club for a charity event before the recent international between the two countries in the Six Nations tournament.
Former England players Dusty Hare, Garry Reece and Simon Hodgkinson and Scottish counterparts Colin Deans and Chris Gray entertained a full house at the Park Lane clubhouse. The evening was in aid of Beaumond House Community Hospice in Newark.
The evening was introduced by M.C. Neil Highfield and the players talked about their best and worst Six Nations memories, before taking questions. Supper, a raffle and an auction followed. In total £5,050 pounds was raised.
Tom Craig, chairman of the rugby club said: “I thought it was a great night and we were delighted to host this most successful event for a very worthwhile cause, especially as the old players gave up their time for nothing to help out the charity. It was a packed house and we could have filled it all over again. As the demand was so great we attend to do other events in the future.”
