Rugby Club Centenary starts with charity fundraiser

A group of runners and cyclists opened up the Southwell Rugby Club Centenary celebrations this month with a 100 mile run and bike ride.

Raising funds for local charity Beaumond House Hospice, 92 runners from across the Club took part – players, officials, parents, coaches, managers, sponsors and many more from age 3 up – what an amazing effort!

Special mention to Georgina Rimmer (pictured with her family) who completed 40 laps of the pitches and a staggering 20 miles.

Southwell Chairman Spud Smith said: “We wanted to start the centenary with a bang and have certainly achieved that. I am very proud of the club’s achievements on the day and am looking forward to the upcoming year of centenary events. We would like to invite all residents to our Community Fun Day and Junior Presentation on Saturday 25th June. Starting at 1pm there will be lots to enjoy including live music, inflatables and refreshments.”

In the meantime, please keep donating to Beaumond House Hospice Care www.justgiving.com/campaign/SouthwellRC100
