The collection phase of the Rotary Christmas tree campaign has ended satisfactorily with some 200 Christmas trees being collected from householders within the Bramley distribution area. All have kindly made donations to Southwell Rotary Club’s Charity Fund.
The amount collected under the scheme will be announced in the next edition of the Bramley in March. The collection program was masterminded and led by Rotarian William Brown with a dedicated team of collectors over a period of seventeen days from Twelfth Night onwards.
Southwell Rotary Club is grateful for the support from the local garden centres including Hollybeck, Reg Taylors, Timmermans and Hills of Edingley, with a special mention to Southwell Garden Centre and its proprietor Dan O’Neill (pictured above), who kindly allowed the Club to store the trees on their frontage at Fiskerton Road. Also the Club is extremely grateful to the Bramley who have been most supportive throughout this project.
The final phase of transporting the trees to the green disposal site near Oxton will take place shortly. Meanwhile Southwell Rotary Club thanks all the householders who have taken advantage of the service and looks forward to expanding the scheme next year.
