LAST month Isobel Rukas, a pupil at Lowe’s Wong Junior School, won the District Lions ROAR competition with her idea ‘Cabinet of Care’, a resource to be situated in town centres for homeless people to access sleeping bags, food and even things for their dogs.
The district covers Essex, Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Norfolk and Suffolk, and will have included many other children and their ideas, so winning was no small feat! Congratulations Isobel.
Southwell Lions President Nick Cooks and Southwell Lions member Verdun Webley recently presented Isobel with her trophy. This makes Lowe’s Wong the most awarded school in this district. Isobel has also been invited, alongside teacher Mrs Harvey, to the Lions Conference in March in Peterborough to receive an extra commendation, due to how much her idea impressed the Lions.
This has never happened before and speaks volumes about Isobel’s achievement. Lions ROAR is an ideas competition for primary schools created by Lions Clubs International, in conjunction with 8 billion ideas, that aims to unlock the creative spirit in every child by giving them the time to imagine and develop ideas that could change the world. Once Again, congratulations to Isobel on her win!
