Reach Deep and Double your Donation!

During the first week of December, local charity Reach is going to prove yet again that it doesn’t sit back on its laurels to achieve its aim. The group that supports adults with learning difficulties has a chance to double the money made from events and donations during this one week.

The charity has recently moved to new premises where it is even better placed to look after the 150 people with learning disabilities in our community.

“Our delightful new base in Southwell now allows us the flexibility to host exciting workshops and activities each week.” said Steve Shatwell, Chief Executive.

Clients are being offered a chance to: dance, take part in arts and craft workshops, and reflexology and relaxation sessions. Ladies get to live a life like any other in the Women’s group who get together on Mondays and Thursdays and take part in cookery sessions, shopping expeditions and days trips around the county. A new games and movie night allows younger (16-21yrs) clients to gather and get to know each other in a safe, fun and supported environment.

Flower Pod is still in its infancy, but following a warm sunny summer the number of bouquet orders is flourishing. Clients and volunteers have grown and nurtured blooms which have graced the tables at numerous conferences and gatherings. Brides have been delighted with their wedding flowers and Flower Pod has helped to alleviate the sorrow at four funerals.

Carols for Everyone. (Thank you to Southwell Lions for choosing Reach as beneficiaries for this event). Southwell Minster. Sunday 13th December.

A Night at the Races. The Minster School. 7.15pm Friday 12th Dec. £5/person inc. drinks and nibbles.

Big Walk, Big Soup. Flower Pod 10.30am Sunday 14 Dec. 6 miles x country from £5/person finishing with homemade soup and hunks of bread.

We also need volunteers to help with street collections and bag packs.
