THE Royal British Legion (RBL) is the nation’s leading Armed Forces charity providing care and support to all members of the British Armed Forces past and present and their families.

It is also the national Custodian of Remembrance and safeguards the Military Covenant between the nation and its Armed Forces.

Kevin Harper Southwell Branch RBL Chairman presented a cheque at the Burgage War Memorial to Col. Roger Merryweather TD DL Vice President of RBL Nottingham last month. The cheque for £2,000 was given to the ‘County Welfare Fund’ which will help to support ex-service personnel and their family. Also present was Geoffrey Bond Deputy Lieutenant representing the King, Andrew Gregory RBL County Chairman, Robert Beckett Southwell RBL Secretary and Derek Osborne Southwell RBL Standard Bearer.

Kevin said: “I would like to thank everyone that supported the Poppy Appeal 2022. Thank you to the Southwell Army Cadets who collected around the town, the Co-Op for allowing us to hold our Poppy Stand and all the volunteers who helped to man the stand during the two-week appeal period. Thank you to all the business and street collectors who also supported the Appeal – Southwell district raised an incredible £7,859.64.”
