New Year, new home? Buyers are still buying

AS I sit here typing this, a couple looking in our office window are opining that the housing market will soon crash, however as an independent estate agent I can assure you that all the recent new instructions we have taken on at Alasdair Morrison and Partners are receiving viewings, and we are taking offers on properties,” says Chris Pick.

“In 2023, we expect to see some local house price changes, but in my opinion, they will still be ahead of 2020/21 prices,” says Chris.

He believes that this year will see success for sellers who market their properties with experienced estate agents recommending sensible pricing, and who are proactive in their marketing.

He says: “Canny sellers who want their property seen on the busiest property search day of the year – Boxing Day – will have already brought their property to market.

“However, it’s not too late to take advantage of keen January and February buyers as we are already registering newly qualified buyers for property in the Newark and Southwell markets.

“Mortgage interest rates in most cases have started to drop back down and we recommend that anyone looking to buy has their mortgage pre-approved so they can make firm offers on their chosen property.”

Chris finishes: “I would personally like to thank the Southwell team for all their hard work during 2022 – Faye, Karen, Liz and Steve. They, and our colleagues at Newark are available to arrange a free, no-obligation market appraisal or to register you as a buyer.”
