NEW Club Captains Claire Wilson & Simon Dickens both from Southwell, held their annual Drive In at the club recently raising £460 for Asthma Uk & Notts/ Lincs Air ambulance with many other fundraising events planned throughout the year.
Simon, 46 has been a member of the Club since it opened in 1999. “It is an honour to be invited to be Club Captain, I used to play on the fields here before it was a golf course and I have seen it grow into a highly regarded Club within the region, highlighted last year by winning Club of the Year across all sports by Nottinghamshire County Council the first time Golf has been recognised in this way. We have such a friendly atmosphere, still a young club with a real connection from the Juniors to the Senior sections.”
Claire, 37 only took up the sport four years ago, attending the popular Pink Ladies Coaching Groups at the Club, her daughters also play and she hope more women will follow her footsteps. “Norwood is a very forward thinking Club, it is modern & well run. I hope more Ladies and Girls will join us, there are so many opportunities here including England Golf & Nottinghamshire Golf Partnership national initiative GirlsGolfRocks which Norwood is only one of four Clubs in the County to be selected to run and will start in April”
Local Minster School Student Tom Squires is the new Junior Captain and Chris Holdrick is the new Senior Captain
