MITRE Concert celebrates togetherness

MINSTER Trust for Education (MITRE) recently held its first whole-Trust event at Southwell Minster, with over 200 pupils from MITRE schools across the region singing to an audience of family and friends.

The concert featured students from: Bleasby Primary, Coddington Primary, Farnsfield St. Michael’s, Halam Primary, Holy Trinity Infants, Kingsway Primary, Lowe’s Wong Infants, Lowe’s Wong Juniors alongside two secondary schools National CofE Academy and The Minster School. Each performed songs individually and also collectively as a Trust, joining in a joy-filled musical evening.

Performers ranged from Year 1 to Year 12 and the concert was a real celebration of children and young people making music in the beautiful surroundings of the Minster. The songs chosen for the concert were connected through the theme of ‘Togetherness’ reflecting the MITRE mission.

Matthew Parris, CEO of MITRE said: “At Minster Trust for Education our mission is that ‘Together we help every child to flourish, opening doors to fulfilling futures.’ This concert was an opportunity for all to celebrate the talents of pupils across ten diverse schools and to bring everyone together pupils, staff and families.”

The concert was a culmination of musical projects in all schools across the term and included the premiere showing of ‘I Wish’ a song composed by a talented Year 12 student from The Minster School, Esme Taylor. Pupils from MITRE schools have been learning the song and filmed their performance, which has been edited into a music video to raise funds for Save the Children.
