Mr Andy Stewart, County Councillor for Southwell, Caunton and Bilsthorpe, reassured Southwell Parish Councillors last month that the catchment area for Southwell’s Minster School would not be changing and that therefore areas which had traditionally sent children to the Minster School would continue to do so.
He also said that temporary accommodation would be provided by the Local Education Authority next September to help with the overcrowding at present. As it is a church aided school, it is the church’s responsibility to undertake capital expenditure to provide accommodation.
They are at present applying to the Government for funds to build new Science laboratories and it was hoped that these negotiations would be satisfactorily completed this year.
