Metro Rod celebrates Engineer of the Year Award

This is in no small part due to the contribution of his senior engineer, Alan Wheatley, who has been part of the operation for 18 years.

“We were delighted when Alan was selected from over 300 engineers across the UK to become Metro Rod’s Engineer of the Year at a recent national meeting of all franchisees in Cheshire,” explained Thomas.

As well unblocking drains for domestic, and commercial customers Metrorod’s services now include CCTV camera work, drain patches and lining repair, and a new gutter cleaning service, which is completed from the ground with a camera to show the results.

“Alan is very much the father figure to our engineer team – literally in one aspect as he has successfully brought 2 sons into the business,” continued Thomas.

“He is tenacious in ensuring jobs of all difficulties are satisfactorily resolved and has indoctrinated his high standards into the rest of the engineering team.
This has been particularly important as we now employ 6 engineers compared with the 2 we inherited with the business in 2010.We always ensure a new recruit spends time with Alan to pick up his skills and good habits.”
