Locally Crafted Beer from Beermats Brewing

Beermats Brewing Company was founded by three friends in 2017.

“We first opened the online shop in August 2020 selling our beer in bottles, beer-in-a-box and mini kegs as well as the traditional 4.5 and nine-gallon cask, and it’s really helped us to get through a difficult time,” says Gregg McDermott, who set up Beermats with Andy Kendrick and Crichton Brauer after enjoying a local pint and playing a game with beer mats.

The game not only inspired the brewery name, but also led to the word ‘mat’ being included in each beer title – Pragmatic, Ultimate, Soulmate to name a few.

Based in the picturesque grounds of the Winkburn estate next to the magnificent Winkburn Hall, lead brewer Andy and the team produce beer three times a week on their 10-barrel brewing kit. Last year they started exporting ales to a partner brewery in Europe and they expanded to include two sales team members, Jackie Mayne and Jenna Kendrick.

“Previously 85% of our sales were from casks going to the local pubs within a 30-mile radius, but that obviously changed a lot last year,” adds Crichton.

“Our online shop has been doing really well since its launch and we’re delighted we can now offer our beers direct to local drinkers too. Plus we’ve got a great selection of Gift Packs – the perfect present for the beer lover in your life!”

Their range consists of various beers from Ipa’s to bitters and stouts. – Matrix IPA, Razzmattazz Exotic Pale and Hazmat Session IPA – thanks to their ever-increasing popularity became so popular in cask that the team decided to produce them as a regular brew and have now bottled them.
This year Beermats are also looking to donate to a charity which is close to their hearts at the brewery. For every pint/bottle of Teammates sold they will be donating 10p to The Alzheimer’s Society.

With free local delivery and courier delivery to addresses further afield, visit the online shop for a great selection of 500ml bottles, from IPA to traditional English Ale, in cases of 12, as well as beer-in-a-box, mini kegs and gift packs.

The brewery shop at Winkburn is also currently open from Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, where you can pick up beer or choose click and collect and receive a discount.
