We were busy preparing for Christmas here at the Southwell Live at Home Scheme during November when members made lots of Christmas tree decorations at our regular Tuesday Coffee and Friendship Mornings (whilst enjoying a chat and a cuppa) for the Live at Home Christmas tree at The Christmas Tree Festival held at Southwell Methodist Church.
We used three felt designs and decorated them with festive stickers and sparkles creating a very colourful array!
During December we will be celebrating with two Christmas parties, the first is our Coffee and Friendship Morning Party where members will be served a light lunch followed with entertainment from singers Bill King and Hilary, and the second will be our Lunch Club party where members are served a two course Christmas dinner followed by mince pies and a visit from the choir of Lowe’s Wong Infants School who will sing carols and festive songs to us all.
On the last Coffee Morning in December all our members make table decorations with fresh foliage to take home with them for their Christmas tables. This is a lovely activity and with the help of our volunteers everyone leaves with a beautiful arrangement.
We have had a fun year this year filled with lots of activities, outings and friendship and hope next year will bring independence, support and friendship to current members and any new members who join us.
We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
