June Festival Opens Gate to World of Music

Over one thousand British and international artists have contacted the organisers to appear at this year’s Gate to Southwell Festival in June (4th – 7th). Having built a growing reputation for great music, dance and family entertainment over the past eight years, this summer’s event looks set to give Southwell and the East Midlands economy an even greater tourist boost than before.

With Celtic folk rock legends Clannad – playing their only summer festival of 2015 – and troubadour Billy Bragg also among the headline acts, Southwell will be hosting performers from all over the world including BOC (Mallorca), Manran (Scotland), The Hot Seats (Virginia, USA), We Banjo 3 (Ireland), Mark Rogers & Mary Byrne (Brooklyn, USA), Cloudstreet (Australia), Scott Cook (Canada) and The Railsplitters (Colorado, USA).

Adding to this heady eclectic mix alt-folk act Maia, acapella trios The Young’uns and Artisan plus festival favourites The Urban Folk Quartet, Chris Wood & Andy Cutting, Ciaran Algar & Greg Russell and the Mischa Macpherson Trio not to mention the 50 strong Conservatoire Folk Ensemble will all appear over the long June weekend at the new venue for 2015 close to Southwell Racecourse.

The organisers will soon announce further acts and promise an action-packed four days of international music, comedy, children’s entertainment, ceilidhs and folk dancing, family fun, fantastic food and a beer and cider festival.

Discount weekend and day tickets (including Billy Bragg plus support for only £20 on Thursday 4th June) will be available until the end of April via the festival website – www.gtsf.uk – and Woodlanders, Southwell.
