The National Civil War Centre has launched Ingenious Inventions, its programme of summer holiday activities. Local dignitaries and officials, family bloggers and a gaggle of excited children attended the Centre for the spectacular launch and a sneak peak at the many craft activities on offer.
Guests enjoyed a fantastic character performance from Prince Rupert of the Rhine who regaled a captive audience with stories of his own scientific exploits, from exploding teardrops to cures for a hole in the head. Children from Barnby Road Primary School got hands on enjoying sampling some of the programme’s brilliant craft activities and were able to take home their creations, from microscopic monsters and painting pendulums, to telescopes and their own rockets!
These activities and more are included in Ingenious Inventions, which runs from 29th July to 3rd September.
This event also celebrated the launch of the National Civil War Centre’s brand new, all-inclusive family discount. In a pioneering concept, the idea of ‘the family of four’ has been banished so that whatever size and shape a clan may be, if it includes a paying child the whole group will receive 20% off admission when visiting between 29th July and 3rd September.
