Girls football thriving

AFTER several successful years it is now time for further growth on and off the pitch for the football girls and ladies at Southwell City Football Club.

The girls section is now in a position where it can offer organised football to girls from the age of 6 through to 16 years of age. The club has begun preparation to offer football in Southwell and the surrounding areas to all women aged 16+ with the creation of a women’s team for the 2023/24. As well as expansion on the pitch. Southwell City FC girls section is aiming to introduce more female coaches within its ranks. This was kick started on Sunday 22nd January with several girls getting together to complete their ‘EE Playmaker by England Football’ coaching award, kickstarting their coaching journeys.

The weekend was successful with a total of 13 girls completing their coaching award. Pictured are eight of the girls (L-R): Freya Bostock, Alice Wray, Julia Allen, Lois Harris, Millie Wright, Cerys Racher, Anna Cunningham and Lucy Carney. The girls will then be aiming to complete the next level of coaching badges within the next two years. Enabling them the confidence and know how to deliver inspiring and engaging coaching lessons to the next generation of female footballers at Southwell City FC.
