Getting your house sold quickly – hints and tips for sellers

Properties for sale in the UK are in demand as the number of properties being put up for sale has slumped in recent months. So, if your property is currently on the market, and has been for a while Alasdair Morrison, local independent estate agent, offers some sage advice for frustrated house sellers.

Alasdair says: “It’s often too easy to take things personally when no one wants to buy your house. But the first step in selling is to emotionally detach yourself from the property. Our sales teams work closely with our sellers to help them prepare the property for sale and allow potential buyers to see themselves making this house their home.”

Always review the feedback from previous viewings. Every potential purchaser has their own personal buying criteria, which they use to measure each property by. If the estate agent feeds back that purchasers are put off by your d├ęcor, then maybe it’s time to break out the magnolia paint and freshen the place up to achieve a sale.

Take a look at your house with a neutral eye. Perhaps you can make small changes that might encourage a buyer to take a second look by doing those small DIY jobs that you thought you could leave for the new homeowner?

Let the agent do the viewings. Letting the agent conduct the viewing gives the buyer space to look around without pressure.

Seriously reconsider the sale price. If you seriously want to sell, then the price must be right. The longer the property remains up for sale, the less chance you have of achieving that original asking price. Be realistic.

Alasdair finishes:

“If you want to achieve a quick sale, it can pay dividends to utilise the years of experience and professional skills of a local estate agent. They will know what properties are selling and for what price, they can help you appreciate whether an offer is reasonable and perhaps negotiate a higher figure. If you’re serious about achieving a quick sale, then why not let the estate agency professionals help you?”
