After the relative summer calm, the Southwell Lions are now back in action planning events for the next few months. The Macmillan coffee morning, where we supported the Rotary club, was again a success. Thanks to all of you who had a go on our Human Fruit Machine or tombola to raise a record amount.
Look out for the Lions Bonfire Quiz on Friday 9th November, 7.30pm at the Minster. Back by popular demand, our quizmaster has trawled the internet and maybe an occasional book for the rounds of this quiz. For just £10 a head, you can test your recollection of trivia, enter the free raffle and enjoy the hot supper. There will be a licensed bar. Please book your team of 6 in by 31st October to help with our catering, letting us know if you require the vegetarian option. Tickets are available by email from lionsouthwell@gmail.com or by phone on 07813 704323 or 07777 635833.
Our second Preloved Christmas Party for Beaumond House is on 8th December. Everyone is asked to dress in an outfit bought from the Beaumond House Charity Shop. As you may need more than one visit to buy that special outfit, we are giving plenty of notice for this event. Pop into the Charity Shop to get more details and snap up some bargains for your evening attire. There will be prizes for the best dressed person. Just remember to keep the tag / receipt for the evening in December.
In December we have the Senior Citizens Party on 2nd December, Carols for Everyone on 15th December and the annual Santa’s Float starts on 10th December. More details in November’s Bramley.
If you’d like to find out more about what we do, or maybe you’re interested in joining us, why not come to one of our business meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at the Reindeer Inn on Westgate? Our meetings start at 8pm and usually finish around 10pm. We also meet on the 4th Tuesday of the month, when we enjoy a range of social activities and occasional speakers. We look forward to seeing you!
