Could you walk on fire for your local hospice?

Daredevils are being urged to take up the challenge to walk on fire at an event at Southwell Rugby Club.

The club will be hosting a Fire Walk at their annual Bonfire Night party celebration on 5th November.

The challenge will raise money for Beaumond House Hospice Care, which looks after 550 patients and their families each year.

One of the first to sign up is 31-year-old Matt, a senior software engineer.

He said that he was looking forward to meeting the challenge head-on. “A firewalk has always been on my bucket list so I can’t wait to achieve this.

“To do it at a bonfire night with my friends and family watching is an added bonus. Once it’s over I am looking forward to a hotdog.”

Training for the firewalk starts at 5.00 pm and will take about 90 minutes to two hours. While that is underway the rest of the team, who are qualified firewalking instructors, will prepare the fire.

The firewalk will start at 7.15 pm and is set to finish at 7.45 pm.

Entry costs £30 and those taking part are asked to raise a minimum sponsorship of £70. You must be 18 or over to take part.

All participants will receive free entry to the bonfire night for themselves and a guest.
