After 42 years Southwell Preschool will sadly be closing its doors on the 26th October. We made this very hard decision because of diminishing numbers over the last year, this being due to losing a large part of our cohort at Easter and July this year.
Southwell Preschool originally opened in 1976 at the drill hall, by a group of mums who wanted a family run environment where their children could socialise and learn. Even though we have evolved and become a registered Preschool over the years, this has been the ethos we have remained with. We have strived to provide a ‘family feel’ learning environment. We have had a wonderful time caring, nurturing, and providing fun packed adventures for the children of Southwell. Many people will have seen us out and about on our explorations and adventures. We collected and counted sticks, battled dragons, found dinosaur eggs and made daisy chains. Learning our colours from the many beautiful flowers and trees will now be a part of beautiful memories, as will listening to the laughter and squeals of happy and excited children.
We will be having a celebration of our 42 years of caring for the children of Southwell and neighbouring villages and would like to extend an invitation to any ex staff, committee members, parents and children. Please come along to the Scout Hut on Wednesday 24th October, 3.30pm to 6pm, to reminisce, share a story or two and for us to say a final goodbye! Everyone is welcome to bring buffet food for a shared table.
We will be open for charities to visit and see if they can use of some of our resources and equipment on Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th October from 10am – 1pm. We will then be open to the public on Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th October when all other resources and equipment can be purchased for a small donation. This will later be donated to a charity of our choosing.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been a part of the Southwell Preschool committee, for all your hard work and support over the years. Thanks also to the amazing existing committee who are going through the sad process of closing down with us. To all the staff over decades of learning and adventuring – thank you, it’s been amazing! And finally to the parents and children who have made this the best place to work in all of Southwell. Thanks for the adventure!
