Farnsfield Bowling Club followed up last year’s first ever indoor match against South Forest indoor Bowls Club.
Six Rinks of three players from each side competed over 18 ends in this most friendly of fixtures. A number of Farnsfield players were trying out the challenging skills required from the outdoor game for the first time indoors accounting for themselves very well.
South Forest were clear victors scoring 144 points to Farnsfields 68 points. The only winning rink for Farnsfield included Alan Thompson and Vic Atkinson who won 17 points to 15 points.
The spirit between the bowling clubs over a cup of tea and a biscuit at the end completed a most pleasant and sociable affair.
Some Bowling Club members continue throughout this winter playing Short-Mat Bowls at Farnsfield Pavilion as well as an increasing number joining leagues at the indoor venue at South Forest, Endwinstowe.
The Outdoor season will soon be upon us and by the end of April our beautiful Green on New Hill will be open. A dedicated group of members has been working hard on the Green and surrounds throughout the winter in preparation for another summer of enjoyable, friendly as well as competitive bowling.
If you enjoyed the recent coverage of ‘CURLING’ on TV then try the similar game of bowls without any of the ice and cold or sweeping!
Watch out for FREE ‘BEGINNERS COURSE’ starting in May as well as an ‘IMPROVERS COURSE’ in June 2014.
