It’s been a fantastic season for the Southwell City’s senior football teams.
The men’s first team finished 3rd in the Premiership of a closely fought Samba Nottingham Senior League, they also beat the eventual league winners Stapleford in the Cup final in emphatic style to lift the League Cup, this being the first honours they have won for some considerable time.
The Reserves also had a really good season finishing 6th in Division One of the same league, a great achievement for a reserve team who were the only team to beat eventual champions Woodthorpe.
The Under 21s also had an amazing season winning their South Section League and reaching the Cup Final, which they unfortunately lost. However, in the North/South playoff final they beat a very good Handsworth team to lift the overall league title.
These are exciting times at Southwell City with the ground development in progress and the opportunity for young players to progress through a very good junior set up and play for the seniors.
This season nine of the Under 21s have played five or more games for the first team with one playing nearly all of them. This blend of youth and experience is defiantly reaping rewards for the Club.
