‘OUR Dementia Choir’ began as part of a documentary created for BBC1 in 2018, formed by BAFTA award winning actress, Vicky McClure.Their recent series ‘Our Dementia Choir Sings Again’ was aired on BBC1 in October 2022.
The choir continues to sing and perform under the charity management of Karen Bonser, with a team of supporters and volunteers, together with the exceptional musical leadership of Mark De-Lisser and Daniela Smith. They showcase exceptional performances in a variety of ways – their biggest audience to date was singing at the 2022 Splendour Festival to 24,000 people last summer.
The Choir has partnered with Southwell Minster for an amazing summer event to be held on Saturday 3rd June. It is sure to be an emotional performance asthe Choir performs with localschool children from across the county, as well as other guests.When you see the choir sing – you will be exposed to a range of emotions – joy,sadness, laughter, excitement, amazement – and more often than not you will have no choice but to get up and sing along!
