This time of year is normally one of celebration for our football club. The end-of-season presentation day in May is quickly followed by our tournament weekend at the beginning of June. It’s a time when players, their coaches, families and friends enjoy the simple pleasure of sport and of being part of our local community.
Of course, this year has been different. Football came to an abrupt end in March and we can only hope that we are able to return to some sort of normality in September.
As a club we continue to plan for the future. Our plans to develop the clubhouse and pitches at Brinkley will need to be pushed back a year but remain in place. Planning permission has now been granted for the improvements, which is great news. It’s an exciting project and hopefully we can start pushing this development forward again soon.
Alongside the work at Brinkley, the club will also be carrying out improvements at our Memorial Ground clubhouse. We want to make the place a more enjoyable place for our teams and their fans to visit, as well as for local groups that also regularly use the facility.
In dark times like now, these positive plans give us all something to look forward to. Hopefully we will be able to start playing football again soon.
