Christmas support for Ukranian families

LAST month, Southwell Lions met with a small group of Ukrainian mums to find out directly how they could help them, both over Christmas and longer term. 

Experiences, such as visits to other parts of the country to learn more about their new home, and informal help with conversational English emerged high on their wish list. Whilst it will take some time to organise some of support schemes, in the meantime, we arranged a Christmas treat to visit White Post Farm and the ‘Once upon a Fairytale Christmas’ experience. 

19 children and 12 adults enjoyed a magical day out at the Park whilst getting to know each other better. Our grateful thanks go to the staff and management at White Post Farm, and to the staff and customers of the Final Whistle in Southwell for their generosity in making this trip possible. 

We are planning a number of activities in 2023, in conjunction with local churches, other groups and individuals to complement those already in place and support the Ukrainian families within our community. If you would like to get involved or offer support please email: lionsouthwell@gmail.com
