Members of Southwell Choral Society gathered in the Minster on May 8th for a very special presentation. A cheque representing the proceeds of the Carols for Everyone concert held in December last year was given to representatives of the Highbury Hospital for the Handicapped at Bulwell, Nottingham
The Concert last year was devised and conducted by John Roase, assistant conductor of Southwell Choral Society, who incorporated items by various groups in Southwell, thus making it a real community effort. Pupils from Lowes Wong Junior School and children from Westgate Group, an organisation for handicapped children and their families were among many groups who participated. The proceeds presented by Chairman of the Southwell Choral Society, Dr Alec Wells, were given to Highbury Hospital for the Handicapped to mark the fact that the event had been organised in aid of the International Year of Disabled People.
